ATHENS, Ohio -- Are you interested in an international experience without having to leave your home? If the answer is "yes," consider hosting one or two international college students for a Saturday overnight homestay one Saturday/Sunday this January.
Ohio University will be hosting a variety of students from other countries who are coming to Athens to study English and culture for four to ten weeks. The weekend homestay is part of the program for students to learn more about American culture and life. The homestay program are offered on two dates:
- Saturday January 12 to Sunday January 13 or
- Saturday January 19 to Sunday January 20
For the homestay, you would meet your student(s) at Gordy Hall on the Ohio University campus at 10 a.m. on your chosen Saturday and return them to the campus on the following day (Sunday) in the afternoon.
In the past, both the American participants and the international students have found the experience to be worthwhile:
- "Thank you so much for inviting me. I had a good memory.
- They were very kind and friendly. I learned many things about American family life."
- "I learned a lot about Korea. My homestay students were great.
- I would definitely host students again. I learned so much from them."
