ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio wrestling coach Joel Greenlee announced the signing of three student-athletes to national letters of intent for the 2002-03 wrestling season on Wednesday. All three wrestlers are prep all-stars from the state of Ohio. Nick Terbay, Vinny DiGiovanni and Marcus Adelman all inked their names to letters of intent, giving Greenlee his largest early signing class since his arrival at Ohio in 1997.
"This is the best early signing period we've had since I have been here," Greenlee said. "These are three guys who will fit our needs well, who will fit into our program, and who really love wrestling."
Terbay is currently listed as the number two recruit in the nation at 165 pounds. He placed fourth in the state as a junior last season for Carroll High School in Dayton. Terbay has also placed nationally on numerous occasions in both Greco-Roman and freestyle competitions, including a second place finish at the FILA Cadet Freestyle Nationals.
DiGiovanni is currently ranked 16th in the nation at the 152 pound weight class for Solon High School. As a sophomore, DiGiovanni finished as the state runner-up and he also qualified for the Ohio High School Athletic Association tournament last year as a junior.
Adelman, the third member of Greenlee's recruiting class, is expected to contribute for Ohio in the 197-pound class. He placed third in the state as a junior at Alliance High School in 2001.
Greenlee, who coached the Bobcats to their 15th Mid-American Conference championship in 2001, does not expect to sign any additional wrestlers in the one-week early signing period allotted by the NCAA. A second national letter of intent signing period will follow in April.
