ATHENS, Ohio -- Marlene Wisowaty, assistant dean for marketing and outreach for Ohio University's Division of Lifelong Learning since fall 2000, passed away Aug. 30 after an extended illness. She had been on sick leave from the university since November.
"This is a very difficult situation for me and everyone in the Division of Lifelong Learning and we are all saddened," said Dean of Lifelong Learning Thomas Shostak. "Marlene made many significant contributions to the division, was very dedicated and will be dearly missed."
Wisowaty was hired at Ohio University in September 1995 as director of the Office of Continuing Education, Conferences and Workshops. She was best known for her work with the division's community outreach programs, particularly the mobile computer education lab, which brought computer training to area work sites. She also was credited with significantly expanding the division's community education programs.
Wisowaty came to Ohio University from Camden County College in Blackwood, N.J., where she served as director of corporate services since 1989. She began her career at Camden in 1985 as the director of training and development for its Corporate Center. She also worked as a professional training specialist and consultant and from 1970 to 1976, served as an adult education coordinator and instructor for the Glassboro, N.J., Board of Education.
