ATHENS, Ohio -- Ohio University's WellWorks Wellness Center will celebrate its first private gift on Thursday, Nov. 1 during a ceremony to announce the establishment of the Susan Crehan-Hostetler Cycling Program. The event, which is open to the public, will be held at 3:30 p.m. in the Grover Center atrium.
The group cycling program has been made possible through a $16,000 gift from Susan Crehan-Hostetler. The program is conducted by a leader in a class setting with each participant determining his or her own level of challenge. The gift has provided training and equipment necessary to offer the classes, which promote aerobic conditioning.
"It was a happy gift to make," said Crehan-Hostetler, who is committed to fitness. "I wanted everybody, every age, every level?to be able to increase their health level in terms of body strength and heart rate."
In September, WellWorks began offering the cycling classes to members and to Ohio University students through a cooperative effort with the Ping Center. Information on class schedules is available from WellWorks, (740) 593-2093.
"We are very grateful to Susan for this opportunity to expand our offerings," said Kim Valentour, director of WellWorks. "Through her generosity and enthusiasm, we are able to provide a wider array of service."
