Ohio University Professor Charles Alexander included in 'Who's Who'

ATHENS, Ohio - Ohio University Distinguished Professor of History Charles Alexander has been selected to be included in the 56th edition of Who's Who in America, the leading biographical reference of the highest achievers and contributors from across the country and around the world.

Alexander is profiled in the 2002 edition, which is now available.

Since 1995, more than 3,000 Ohio University students have learned about John McGraw, Ty Cobb, Bob Gibson, the Industrial Revolution and the Great Depression in Alexander's classes, "American Baseball to 1930" and "American Baseball Since 1930." He has also written several baseball-related books, including Ty Cobb, John McGraw, Our Game: An American Baseball History and Rogers Hornsby: A Biography. His latest book, Breaking the Slump: Baseball in the Depression Era, will be published by Columbia University Press next spring. He has also written five books not related to baseball.

Since 1899, when A.N. Marquis printed the first edition of Who's Who in America, the publication has chronicled the lives of the most accomplished individuals and innovators from every significant field of endeavor - including politics, business, medicine, law, education, art, religion and entertainment. Today, Who's Who in America remains an essential biographical source for thousands of researchers, journalists, librarians and executive search firms around the world.
