Contact: Linda Comeaux, President of Hocking Valley Audubon Society, at (740) 644-0044 or comeaux@ohiou.edu

MINERAL, Ohio (October 2, 2000) -- The Hocking Valley Audubon (HVA) Society will present a program on Sunday, October 15, at 3 p.m. at the Athens Fish and Game Club featuring local carver Ora Anderson. Anderson will share his duck decoy collection and give a history of decoy carving. The Athens Fish and Game Club is a mile south of the intersection of Routes 681 and 356. For more information, contact HVA president, Linda Comeaux at comeaux@ohio.edu

Orders are now being taken for the Audubon's Annual Bird Seed Sale. Order forms must be received by the Hocking Valley Audubon Society by Wednesday, October 18. To obtain a form, visit the Web site at http://hockingvalleyaudubon.org or call Dr. Scott Moody at 593-2360 (day) or 592-5613 (evening). Seeds can be picked up at White's Mill on Saturday, October 28 from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Proceeds from the sale help support Audubon Adventures, an environmental educational program offered to all elementary school children in the four counties.

The Hocking Valley Audubon Society meets on the second Sunday of the month to learn more about the natural world found in Athens, Hocking, Morgan and Vinton counties. Programs feature guest lecturers, hikes and field trips in the four counties; as well as activities like the Annual Christmas Bird Count in December. All members of the National Audubon Society are automatically local members. Another way to qualify for membership is by participating in the society's Annual Bird Seed Sale. For more information, contact Scott Moody, PhD. at (740) 592-5613 or Linda Comeaux at (740) 664-0044.
