Pickerington Center Dedication Scheduled for Friday

ATHENS, Ohio (October 2, 2000) -- After offering classes for more than 20 years at the local high school in Pickerington, Ohio University has opened a state-of-the-art classroom facility in the Fairfield County community.
The official dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Pickerington Center is at 4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, at the new facility, 12931 Stonecreek Drive, Pickerington.
Pickerington Center Director Leigh Trapp and Ohio University Vice President for Regional Higher Education Charles Bird will speak.
The 15,000-square-foot Pickerington Center, an extension of Ohio University's Lancaster Campus, opened for the first day of classes on Sept. 5. Most courses are offered in the early morning, late evening and weekends. Offerings include courses on business, computers, communications, English, mathematics, economics and career planning. Academic advising is available.
"The Pickerington Center allows Ohio University to service a rapidly growing area," Bird said. "The center is an up-to-date adult learning facility that offers programs that are both cost-effective and convenient for its students. The potential of the center is enormous."
The Pickerington Center is about a 15-minute drive from downtown Columbus and Port Columbus International Airport.
