ATHENS, Ohio -- The Ohio Athletics family is in mourning today after the death of heavyweight wrestler Brad Bauer.
The 20-year-old sophomore was killed in an automobile accident Friday afternoon in his hometown of Ravenna.
"Brad had the heart, the intelligence and the skill to wrestle at the heavyweight level," said Bobcats head coach Joel Greenlee. "Pound-for-pound, he's the toughest wrestler I have ever known."
Bauer finished second in the Mid-American Conference last season. He posted a 14-6 record in dual matches (17-10 overall) with three pins and two technical falls.
Visitation will be tonight from 4-8 p.m. at the Wood-Kortright Funeral Home, Ravenna Chapel. The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peter of the Fields Church in Rootstown.
