ATHENS, Ohio -- Ohio University's Classified Senate announces that Miriam McLaughlin has been named the non-bargaining Classified Employee of the Month for June 2001. McLaughlin, who has worked at Ohio University for fifteen years, is a senior secretary in the Vice President for Administration office on the Athens campus.
Dr. Gary North, Vice President of Administration made the nomination and says of McLaughlin, "I regularly receive comments from students, staff, and visitors about Miriam's helpful efforts and cheerful disposition. She goes to the extreme to assure that people are treated with courtesy and respect." When asked if she could design her "dream job," McLaughlin's response was, "I think I'm most fortunate to have the job I have; it's most rewarding and interesting." As the Classified Employee of the Month, McLaughlin represents the standards for excellence and innovation which have the greatest impact on Ohio University by promoting unity, community, continuity and visibility.
Miriam's photo and award information is posted on the Classified Senate Web site and will be sent to her planning unit head for prominent display.
This monthly award is made based on nominations submitted by members of the university community for any non-bargaining unit, classified employee who is setting standards for excellence and innovation by promoting unity, community, continuity and visibility. Award winners show outstanding individual achievement, contribution, innovation and performance of their jobs.
