ATHENS, Ohio (May 24, 2001) -- Get ready for an evening of fun and excitement! On Thursday, June 7, WOUB/WOUC-TV, Ohio University Public Television, will sponsor a "Kids' Club Night" at the Chillicothe Paints game in Chillicothe, Ohio. Featuring an appearance by the popular PBS children's character Arthur. Arthur, the star of his own PBS animated children's television series teaches valuable lessons through his fictitious experiences, and encourages children to expand their knowledge through reading and writing.
In addition to Arthur's appearance at the Chillicothe Paints game, the first 500 children through the gate will receive a free Arthur book. Kids will also have a chance to win Arthur Gift Packs throughout the game.
Arthur is the most popular children's program on television today and airs each weekday at 7:00 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. through the summer on Ohio University Public Television. "Arthur" is based on the popular "Arthur" children's book series by author/illustrator Marc Brown, and follows the adventures and misadventures of eight-year-old Arthur Read, his little sister D.W., and his friends and family. Each "Arthur" episode consists of two independent stories that focus on themes and events central to children's lives. The animated stories are linked by a live action segment featuring elementary school children who create their own Arthur related activities. Join Arthur and his friends for more games and entertainment at www.pbs.org
The baseball game starts at 7:05 p.m. and will feature the Chillicothe Paints playing the Canton Crocodiles. Both teams play in the Frontier League. The game will take place at VA Memorial Field on the Veterans Administration grounds at 17273 State Route 104 in Chillicothe. For more information, visit www.woub.org
