ATHENS, Ohio (September 25, 2000) -- Ohio University's Student Alumni Board (SAB) is looking for the best bobcat on campus. In a "Survivor-like" competition, contestants will face physical and mental challenges as they attempt to be the "Last Bobcat Standing."
The event will be held at the Strouds Run campgrounds beginning at 3 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 29, and ending at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 1.
The Student Alumni Board has released the names of the nine contestants, all Ohio University students. They are Maren Bauerle, Angela Davis, Teresa Keysor, Dave Smolowitz, Jason Brown, Lemuel Gardner, Garry Nauman, Mike Cusick, Steve Kenworthy and alternate Faith Henry.
Contestants will be given basic food and shelter and will be voted off the "colony" one by one.
Prizes for the "Last Bobcat Standing" will include an all expense paid weekend at the Ohio University Inn. SAB is still accepting donations from area businesses to include as prizes.
Contestants were chosen based on a questionnaire distributed at the College Gate. Over 35 applications were received.
On a related note, the Student Alumni Board is now accepting applications for their annual membership drive. They plan to accept 30 new members and will take applications through September 29.
