Ohio University Student Dies in House Fire
ATHENS, Ohio (May 19, 2001) -- Officials from the Athens City Fire Department and Ohio University this morning confirmed that one student died and another individual was injured in a house fire off-campus.
Jamie A. Dutko, 22, a female senior Engineering student from Strongsville, Ohio, was reported dead at the scene by the Athens County Coroner's office.
Travis Frymoyer, 21, of Centerville, Ohio, was initially taken to O'Bleness Hospital in Athens then transported to the Ohio State University Medical Center. His condition is stable, according to the hospital.
Two other individuals who were in the house at the time of the fire were not injured.
According to fire department, the fire at 60 North High Street was reported at 6:37 a.m. A cause has not yet been determined, according to the State Fire Marshall's office, Athens Fire Department, and Athens Police Department, who are investigating the incident.
