ATHENS, Ohio (May 15, 2001) -- The Ohio Sports Network has signed Cleveland radio station WRMR-850 AM to a three-year radio affiliate contract. The addition of the station gives the OSN radio network expanded coverage in northeast Ohio where Ohio University has more than 25,000 alumni.
Beginning next fall, WRMR will carry Bobcat football and men's basketball games on its powerful 50,000-watt signal, which encompasses all of northeast Ohio and often can be heard as far south as Athens, Ohio. The station's format consists of easy listening and oldies music, as well as talk programming.
"The addition of WRMR represents a significant improvement in coverage for OSN because of its 50,000-watt signal during the day and 5,000-watt signal at night," said Derek Scott, director of broadcasting and marketing for Ohio University Athletics. "Now our games can be heard all over northeast Ohio, not just Cuyahoga County. Alumni in areas like Akron, Canton and Youngstown will be able to follow the Bobcats on a strong and reliable signal."
The Ohio Sports Network, the broadcasting component of Ohio University's Athletics Department, now has 12 radio affiliates that can be heard throughout most of southeast, northeast and central Ohio.
