Pulitzer Prize-Winning Writer to Present Kennedy Lecture

ATHENS, Ohio (April 27, 2001) -- Pulitzer Prize-winning writer Garry Wills will present a Kennedy Lecture at 8 p.m. May 3 in the Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium. Wills is expected to speak on government support of the arts.
The renowned writer is the author of more than 20 books. His most recent work, "Papal Sins: Structures of Deceit," explores American Catholicism. Wills' next book, "Venice: Lion City," is to be published next year.
An adjunct professor of history at Northwestern University, Wills has won the Presidential Medal of the Endowment for Humanities and the Pulitzer Prize for Literature and the National Book Critics Circle Award for his 1992 book, "Lincoln at Gettysburg: The Words That Remade America."
The Kennedy Lecture Series brings nationally recognized speakers to Ohio University who appeal to a cross-section of the community and stimulate thought on major public issues, cultural affairs and scholarly fields. All events are free and open to the public.
