Items Now Being Accepted for Showcase 2001

ATHENS, Ohio (April 2, 2001) -- It's time to show off your talents and creativity while helping to endow a scholarship for employees and their dependents. Showcase 2001 comes to Nelson Commons on Thursday, May 10 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Proceeds from the Showcase will be added to past fundraising efforts -- $3,000 is needed to complete the $15,000 required to endow the scholarship.

The Showcase Committee is looking for handcrafted items from Ohio University staff, faculty and administrators (or their spouses) for the Bobcat auction, for sale on consignment, or for display only. Past Showcase items have included woodworking, beadwork, needlework, paintings, prints, photographs, quilts, etc.

Bobcat Auction: Donations of hand-crafted items are needed for the Bobcat Auction. All proceeds from auction items will go directly to the scholarship fund.

For Sale on Consignment: Proceeds from items sold in this category will be split with the artist--75% to artist; 25% to the scholarship. Due to space limitations, consignment items will be limited in number. Each consignee must make one donation to the Bobcat Auction.

For Display Only: Items in this category will not be sold or auctioned. This category is for employees to show off their talents and creative endeavors to co-workers.

Entertainment: If you are interested in performing (music, dancing, etc.) at the Showcase, please contact a committee member.

Lunch: Soup, sandwiches, chips, and soft drinks will be provided again by Nelson Dining Hall from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Cost is $3.50 for sandwich/chips/soft drink and $.75 for soup.
