Ohio University Student Leaders Deserve to be Acknowledged

ATHENS, Ohio (April 2, 2001) -- On May 23, at the 18th Annual Leadership Recognition Reception, Ohio University will recognize leaders in the university community, but not without the help of OU faculty, staff, and students. Any member of the Ohio University community can make nominations or apply for 10 awards that will be presented at the Leadership Recognition Reception. Nomination/application forms are available at the Office of Student Activities located in Baker University Center 204. The deadline for the nomination/application forms is 4 p.m. Monday, Apr. 23.
Awards include Advisor, Community Service, Graduate Student Leader, Program and Senior Leader. There are also three individual awards, the King/Chavez Parks, given by the Office of Multicultural Programming, the Rudy Leadership Award and the Stonewall Leadership Award, given by the GLBT Student Programs Office.
Criteria for the awards include demonstrating leadership development, service to the community, respect for the dignity of others, leading with integrity and being an informed and responsible community member. The Leadership Recognition Reception is sponsored by the Vice President for Student Affairs Office, the Office of the Dean of Students, and the Office of Student Activities.
