ATHENS, Ohio (April 2, 2001) -- The College of Education is hosting its Annual Spring Education Conference on Friday, Apr. 6 in McCracken Hall from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Sponsored by the College of Education's Society of Alumni & Friends, this event brings alumni back to campus for a day to give professional and career guidance and advice to current College of Education students. Through panel discussions, mock interviews and one-on-one conversations, alumni share their experiences on what it is like to enter the real world and the work force for the first time. This year's topics include sessions on developing and organizing personal portfolios, teaching a foreign language, tackling your first teaching assignment, classroom realities and interviewing techniques.

8:00 a.m. -- Continental Breakfast and Registration
9:00-10:00 a.m. -- Session I
- Inclusion Strategies and Models for Special Education and Regular Education Teachers
Panel discussion on how to effectively work with special education inclusion students.
- Personal Portfolios for Professional Use/Resume
Develop, organize and improve materials for the interview process.

- Hands-On Science Activities for Proficiency Outcomes K-6
Discussion of best practices using "hands-on, minds-on" science and math. Practical suggestions for instruction in these areas.

Important tips for getting hired, teaching assignments and supplemental contracts.
