Ohio University Conducts Honors Convocation This Saturday

ATHENS, Ohio -- Ohio University scholarship recipients, donors and distinguished professors will be honored at this weekend's 23rd annual Honors Convocation, set for 10 a.m. Saturday in Templeton Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium.
More than 1,600 faculty, students, donors and their guests are expected for the event, which coincides with Parents Weekend. This academic year, 6,700 scholarship awards worth over $10 million are benefitting Ohio University students.
The convocation's keynote speaker is Distinguished Professor of Mathematics Surender Jain, recipient of last year's Distinguished Professor Award. The recipient of this year's Distinguished Professor Award will be announced at the convocation by President Robert Glidden.
Other speakers will include Tracy Reedy, a senior journalism major, who will talk about what receiving a scholarship has meant to her, Provost Sharon Brehm, Vice President for University Advancement Leonard Raley and Vice President of Student Affairs Michael Sostarich.
