Mazziotto's OT Goal lifts Ohio to victory over Syracuse, 2-1
IOWA CITY, Iowa -- Back, Lauren Mazziotto (Sewell, N.J.) scored an unassisted goal with 4:52 left in the first overtime to give Ohio (2-4) their second straight victory, 2-1, over #20 Syracuse (6-2). The Bobcats' win halted Syracuse's four game winning streak.
After a scoreless first half, the Bobcats got on the board early in the second, when senior Andrea Pettinato (Willow Grove, Pa.) netted her first goal of the season at 34:03. Syracuse's Cecily Cowburn tied the game later in the half to send the Bobcats to their first overtime game of the year.
Goalkeeper, Tara Elliot (Willow Station, Pa.) had her second strong game in a row recording seven saves in the win. The Bobcats open up conference play on the road against #17 Louisville on Sept. 22 and then travel to Miami on Sept. 23.
