Ohio Women's Swimming Splits with NIU and EMU
Bobcats' Four-Year Unbeaten Streak in MAC Dual Meets Snapped by the Eagles

DeKALB, Illinois (January 20, 2001) -- The Ohio women's swimming and diving team entered Saturday's meet with a four-year unbeaten streak in MAC dual meets. The incredible run came to an end as Eastern Michigan defeated the Bobcats 130-113 in a heated battle. Ohio did manage to capture an impressive 173-70 victory over Northern Illinois.

Junior, Kim van Selm led the Bobcats with wins in both the 200 freestyle (1:53.23) and 500 freestyle (5:00.70). Other Ohio winners include Trisha Kessler in the 200 I.M. (2:08.25), Claire Madonia in the 200 butterfly (2:08.25) and Emily Bresser in the 200 backstroke (2:09.12).

The Eagles won the meet with strong finishes in the relay and diving events. Eastern Michigan edged the Bobcats finishing first in the 200 medley relay and 200 freestyle relay. EMU freshma,n Anca Tilea, captured first on the three-meter board (256.65) and second on the one meter (252.95). Eastern senior, Emily McCarty, finished first and third on the one and three meter boards respectively.

The Bobcats are back in the pool on Jan. 27 at 1 p.m. when they host Miami and Bowling Green.


Ohio Men's Swimming Falls to NIU and EMU

DeKALB, Illinois (January 20, 2001) -- The Ohio men's swimming and diving team fell to conference powers Eastern Michigan and Northern Illinois on Saturday afternoon. The defending MAC champion Eagles defeated the Bobcats 206-36, while the Huskies captured a 177-64 victory over Ohio.

Complete results of the meet were unavailable from NIU.

The Bobcats are back in the pool on Jan. 27 at 1 p.m. when they host Miami and Bowling Green.
