ATHENS, Ohio (January 14, 2001) -- The Ohio wrestling team went 2-1 at the North Carolina State Duals on Saturday. After opening up with a loss to fifth-ranked Illinois, the Bobcats regrouped and went on to beat Princeton and Appalachian State. Ohio finished the day with five wrestlers picking up two victories a piece.

In Ohio's first dual of the day, the Bobcats could not gain any momentum as they dropped eight of nine matches to Illinois, losing 37-3 to the Fighting Illini. Freshman Anthony Carrizales (Delta) was the only Bobcat to pick up a victory, defeating Chad Hay 10-5.

In their second dual of the day, Ohio defeated Princeton 26-13. The Bobcats won seven of ten matches. Dan Bedar (Brecksville) and Brad Bauer (Kent) picked up technical falls, while Ben Gabriel (Zanesville) majored his opponent. Paul Hodermarsky (Olmstead), Alex Cooper (Medina), Luke Moore (Springfield) and Mark Shrout (Pittsburgh, Pa.) were the other winners for the Bobcats.

Ohio finished the day by defeating Appalachian St. 23-12. Moore and Bednar majored their opponents while Bauer pinned his opponent a 2:27. Andy Reichenbach (Miami, Fla.), Carrizales and Shrout also earned decisions.

The Bobcats will be back in action this weekend when they host North Carolina and defending MAC champion Central Michigan. Ohio will host the 22nd-ranked Tar Heels on January 20 at 11:00 a.m. and the Chippewas on January 21 at 2:00 p.m.
