Bowling Green Defeats Ohio in Women's Basketball
Francine Miller's 19 Points Lead Five Falcons in Double Figures

ATHENS, Ohio -- Bowling Green's Francine Miller scored 19 points, grabbed five rebounds and dished out six assists Saturday afternoon to lead the Falcons to an 82-72 Mid-American Conference victory over Ohio at the Convocation Center in Athens. Four other Falcons topped double figures, led by Dana Western with 13 and Afra Smith with 11. Lindsay Austin and Kelly Kapferer each added 10 points. Cathy Szall equaled a career-high with 25 points, while Lori Moorman chipped in 18 for the Bobcats.

Bowling Green (6-7, 2-0) led 36-33 at the half despite committing 18 turnovers. The Falcons hit 63.2 percent from the field and nine-of-10 from the free throw line, plus held a 19-12 rebounding edge. Miller was the only player in double figures for either team at intermission with 10 points.

Ohio (3-10, 0-2) took its only lead of the second half, 43-42, at the 17:35 mark, when Moorman hit a short jumper, but the Falcons went ahead for good with four straight points. An 11-0 run pushed a 46-45 lead to 12, 57-45 with just over 12 minutes remaining, but the Bobcats responded. A 12-4 run over the next 4:31 cut the margin to four, 61-57 by the 7:50 mark. After the Falcons went back ahead by nine, the Bobcats closed to within two, 68-66 with 3:31 to play. However, Bowling Green scored the next six points and hit all four free throw attempts in the final 32 second to preserve the victory.

Ohio has now lost five straight and seven of its last eight games. The Bobcats hit the road for the first time in league play Wednesday night, traveling to Toledo. Bowling Green hosts Central Michigan on Tuesday.
