Ohio Women's Swimming Improves to 8-0 with win over Duquesne

PITTSBURGH, Pennsylvania (January 6, 2001) -- The Ohio women's swimming and diving team improved to a perfect 8-0 in dual meets with a 123-91 victory over Duquesne on Saturday afternoon.

The Bobcats placed first in seven of the 11 overall events, including six straight victories to begin the meet. Six different Bobcat swimmers captured first-place finishes for Ohio.

Junior, Rachel Banks (Dayton), won the 1000 freestyle with a time of 10:47.40. Other Bobcat winners include Heather Rennebohm in the 200 freestyle (1:58.67), Stephanie Gotschall in the 50 freestyle (24.61), Abby Fogel in the 200 I.M. (2:16.07), Bree Speidel in the 100 butterfly (1:04.34) and Samantha Pfaller in the 100 backstroke (1:03.04).

The 200 medley relay team of Kristen Baldinger, Rachel White, Courtney Gould and Samantha Pfaller finished first with a time of 1:54.79.

The Bobcats are back in the pool on Jan. 20 when they travel to Northern Illinois to face the Huskies and Eastern Michigan.
