Mary Beth Robinson is the December Employee of the Month

ATHENS, Ohio (December 18, 2000) -- Ohio University's Classified Senate announces that Mary Beth Robinson has been named the non-bargaining Classified Employee of the Month for December 2000. Mary Beth, who has worked at Ohio University for seven and a half years, is the Educational Media Center Coordinator at OU-Zanesville
Shana Fair, Director of the OU-Zanesville Library, nominated Mary Beth, whose job as supervisor of the Educational Media Center is to provide educational media equipment to classrooms for faculty. Fair says of Mary Beth, "Her commitment to quality is high. She often takes not just one extra step, but two or even three to insure quality service to our library patrons, faculty and staff."
Mary Beth has many academic accomplishments: an Associate of Arts degree from Marietta College, a Bachelor of Arts in English from Marietta College, and a Master of Arts in Interpersonal Communication from Ohio University. She also has several CE units in graphic design and one in Web page development from workshops.
Mary Beth indicated that if she could design her "dream" job, she almost has it. She says that her job combines mental creativity and duties plus physical duties like pushing AV equipment in and out of rooms. She says that she is fortunate that her supervisor also allows her to help out with new student advising when the Office of Student Services needs her. She says of her position as Educational Media Center Coordinator, "this is a very rewarding position with an excellent supervisor."

This monthly award is made based on nominations submitted by members of the university community for any non-bargaining unit, classified employee who is setting standards for excellence and innovation by promoting unity, community, continuity and visibility. Award winners show outstanding individual achievement, contribution, innovation and performance of their jobs.
