Ohio Wrestling Finishes 1-2 at Sheridan Duels
Bobcats defeat North Carolina State, fall to Lehigh and Lock Haven

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (December 9, 2000) -- The Ohio Wrestling team went 1-2 at the Sheridan Duels hosted by Lehigh University. The Bobcats defeated North Carolina State 36-4, but fell to Lehigh 36-6 and Lock Haven 27-14. Anthony Carrizales (Delta), Ryan Smith (Dayton), John Wervey (Chagrin Falls), Luke Moore (Springfield), Dan Bednar (Brecksville) and Brad Bauer (Kent) finished the day 2-1.
In their victory over North Carolina State, the Bobcats won all but one of their matches. Bednar (197) started the day with a 4-3 victory over Zach Breitenbach. Then Bauer (HWT) defeated David
DeBinder 5-0. After Barry Saley (Lakemore) fell to George Cuntron, the Bobcats reeled off the seven straight wins to close out the match.
Things didn't fair as well in the second round against seventh ranked Lehigh. The Mountain Hawks picked up three pins and three major decisions, while Ohio managed only two individual victories in the match. Carrizales defeated Tristan Boyd 10-4, while Smith (157) defeated Nate Cole 8-4.
In the third round, the Bobcats started off strong against 16th ranked Lock Haven, with Bednar and Bauer posting victories. Lock Haven would bounce back and win the next five, securing the victory. Ohio (1-2) would finish up strong, with Wervey (165) and Moore (174) posting their second victories of the day.
The Bobcats open up their home schedule when they host Findlay on Friday, December 15 at 7:00 p.m.
