#16 Kentucky Outlasts Ohio Soccer, 4-0
ATHENS, Ohio (September 10, 2000) -- In Ohio's home opener, the 16th-ranked Kentucky Wildcats
used a second half explosion to outlast the Bobcats 4-0 at Shafer Street
Field.
The two teams battled to a scoreless tie in the first half, but the
Wildcats' aggressive play proved to be too much for Ohio. Sophomore
Elizabeth Ramsey netted the first goal of the game at 68:22 off a rebound in
front of the box. Kentucky added their final three goals in the last 14 minutes of the match.
Ohio (2-3) was outshot 43-2. Junior goalkeeper Vanessa Dennis made a school
record 17 saves in the defeat.
The Bobcats are on the road for the next two weeks with games against
Marshall (9/15), Dayton (9/17) and Buffalo (9/22). Ohio's next home game is
Sunday September 24, at 1 p.m. against Kent State.
