Ohio Soccer Places Nine on MAC Honor Roll

CLEVELAND, Ohio (November 21, 2000) -- The Ohio soccer team placed nine players on the 2000 Mid-American Conference Women's Soccer Honor Roll, announced on Nov. 20.
Seniors Adrian Hogel, Erin McCoy and Carley Knox, along with juniors Jen Barber and Ashley Jakeway and sophomores Hallie Lang, Rachel Najjar, Rachel Sanders and Jen Sanson represent the Bobcats.
Hogel (Cincinnati) was one of the Bobcats' most consistent players this year. She started all 19 games registering one goal and one assist. For her career, Hogel has tallied seven goals and 14 assists in 69 games. She has a 3.23 GPA in biology/pre-med.
McCoy (Cincinnati) was Ohio's best defender her senior campaign. She played in 12 games registering two assists before a severe knee injury limited her playing time. McCoy made a remarkable comeback by returning to action in the quarterfinal round of the MAC tournament. She has a 3.10 GPA in business administration.
Knox (Toledo) completed her final season scoring two goals and three assists in 19 games. The speedy forward finished her career with 11 goals and 11 assists in 77 games. She has a 3.86 GPA in sports industry.
Barber (Cincinnati) was second on the team in scoring her junior year. She registered six goals and five assists in 17 games. Barber earned MAC Player of the Week honors on Oct. 23 after tallying three goals and four assists in two wins against Western Michigan and Northern Illinois. She has a 3.42 GPA in sports industry.
Jakeway (Hilliard) was a reliable defender for the Bobcats in 2000. She played in 18 games for Ohio, starting 13, and scoring one goal. Jakeway has a 3.78 GPA in journalism.
Lang (Wadsworth) made the most of her opportunities this year. She played in only three games, but registered one assist. The red-shirt freshman has a team-high 3.92 GPA in university studies.
Najjar (Columbus) had a stellar sophomore year for the Bobcats. She scored five goals and added five assists in 19 games. Her career total of 11 goals and six assists rank her among the best for Ohio players after the completion of their sophomore campaign. Najjar has a 3.14 GPA in university studies.
Sanders (Knoxville, Tenn.) was a versatile player for the Bobcats in 2000. In 15 games, she played both midfield and defense. Sanders has 3.49 GPA in university studies.
Sanson (Bay Village) saw action in eight games for Ohio. The red-shirt freshman fired four shots from the forward spot. Sanson has a 3.08 GPA in political science/pre-law.
Student-athletes must obtain a cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher and earn a letter for the current season to be eligible for the honor. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible as student-athletes must have attended that institution for an entire year.
