ATHENS, Ohio (November 3, 2000) -- Nancy Rue has been promoted to the newly created position of associate dean for public services with Ohio University Libraries.

In her new role, Rue will have administrative responsibility for Circulation, Government Documents, Reference, the Music/Dance Library, the Fine Arts Library, the Center for International Collections and Microforms/Maps. She also will supervise the Interlibrary Loan unit. Rue was previously coordinator of user services.

"A large part of Nancy's new job will be participation in strategic planning for services in the 21st century," Dean of Libraries Julia Zimmerman said. "She has a deep commitment to meeting the needs of library users. With her leadership, we will all work together to provide consistently excellent service in all areas of the libraries."

Rue joined the staff in 1969 as a reference librarian and has held several positions, including head of reference and library instruction (1987-2000) and coordinator of user services (1996-2000). She is a recipient of Ohio University's Outstanding Administrator Award (1991) and is a member of the American Library Association, Phi Beta Kappa, Phi Alpha Theta history honorary and Beta Phi Mu library science honorary. She has served several terms on Administrative Senate and as a member of the Ohio University Press Editorial Board.
