Welcome Students! Here's Some News You Can Use
Welcome to summer in Athens! While the pace can be a a little different, we hope your time is productive and peaceful (and if you're new, we're glad you've decided to make Ohio University your home for the next four years). As the summer sessions begin, you've got a lot to keep track of, so here's an abbreviated calendar with some information about this quarter's deadlines. We've also added some links you can use to help get the year started on the right foot (see below and left).
You can bookmark this page and use it as a reference throughout the coming academic year. Also visit the Current Students front door, which is full of useful links and fresh news you'll want to know about.
Monday, June 18
- First session opening date
- Classes begin for first session
- First meal served on board plan (breakfast)
Thursday, June 21
- First session students should apply and pay fee for conferral of undergraduate and graduate degrees for summer session (August 25); final deadline for applying is July 26
Saturday, June 23
- Last day to check out of residence hall to receive 60% housing refund
Monday, June 25
- Last day to register for first session
- Last day to receive partial refund of registration fees (80%) for complete withdrawal from the university for first session classes
- Last day to apply for pass/fail grading option through your academic dean's student services office or regional campus student services office for first session class
- Last day to change a grading option (credit to audit/audit to credit or pass/fail to regular grade option/regular grade option to pass/fail) for first session class
- Last day to add a class for first session
- Last day to drop a class for first session without receiving a grade (WP/WF)
- Last day to change college/major through your academic dean's student services office or regional campus student services office
Tuesday, June 26
- First session classes dropped will not remove fees for hours dropped; corrected registration that results in increased hours could increase tuition
- First session classes dropped will remain on student's academic record with WP/WF grade
Saturday, June 30
- Last day to check out of residence hall to receive 40% housing refund
Wednesday, July 4
- Independence Day (university offices closed; classes not in session)
Thursday, July 5
- Last day to drop a class for first session (WP/WF grade assigned, no fee refund)
Thursday, July 19
- Last day to withdraw from the university for first session
Friday, July 20
- Last day of classes for first session (NOTE: Final examinations are scheduled for the last meeting time of each individual class)
Monday, July 23
- Second session opening date
- Classes begin for second session
Thursday, July 26
- Last day for filing application and paying fee for conferral of undergraduate and graduate degree on August 25
Wednesday, August 8
- Last day to drop a class for second session (WP/WF grade assigned, no fee refund)
Thursday, August 23
- Last day to withdraw from second session
Friday, August 24
- Last day of classes for second session (NOTE: Final examinations are scheduled for the last meeting time of each individual class.)
- Last meal served on board plan (dinner)
