Eligibility for the NEARS Scholarship.

To be eligible for a NEARS Scholarship, a student must:

• have been unemployed for 27 weeks or more,
  or
• have lost his/her job in the recent recession and exhausted unemployment benefits,
  or
• be working in a part-time job but desire to work in a full-time job,
  or
• have been unable to find employment as an LPN or Associate Degree RN.
  

           And:

• have completed some post-secondary education that helps entry into the
  defined nursing career pathway

or

• be interested in pursuing a nursing career or upgrading credentials in the career pathway.

And:

• be at least 18 years of age.

Veterans and their eligible spouses will be given full consideration for NEARS Scholarships.
