TDR/WHO : The Special Programme for Research and Training in Tropical Diseases (TDR) is an independent global program of scientific collaboration. Established in 1975 and co-sponsored by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the World Bank and the World Health Organization (WHO), it aims to help coordinate, support and influence global efforts to combat a portfolio of major diseases of the poor and disadvantaged.
PAHO/WHO: The Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) is an international public health agency with 100 years of experience in working to improve health and living standards of the countries of the Americas. It serves as the specialized organization for health of the Inter-American System. It also serves as the Regional Office for the Americas of the World Health Organization and enjoys international recognition as part of the United Nations system.
Plan Internacional : Founded in 1937, Plan is one of the largest child-centered community development organizations in the world. Plan works in 62 countries on projects and initiatives that address the causes of poverty and its consequences for children's lives. Plan works with children, their families and communities to build a world where children are safe, healthy and capable of realizing their full potential.
Children's HeartLink : Since 1969, this nonprofit organization has helped heal the hearts of children from 35 different countries, provided surgical treatment and supplies valued at more than $55 million, and given training and assistance that has helped hundreds of thousands of children live healthier, more productive lives.
The American Red Cross: A humanitarian organization led by volunteers and guided by its Congressional Charter and the Fundamental Principles of the International Red Cross Movement. The organization provides relief to victims of disaster and helps people prevent, prepare for, and respond to emergencies. Through the Blood Services, the ARC aims to provide safe and reliable blood and blood components for therapeutic use.
CONESUP, SENACYT and FUNDACYT: Governamental funding agencies of the Ecuadorian government have provided support to Catholic University of Ecuador for collaboratative research and infrastructure development projects.
Individual donors and supporters: Every year ITDI and the CIDR receive donations from individuals and private institutions through the Ohio University Foundation or Catholic University of Ecuador. Support includes funds to supplement research efforts, specific outreach activities or sponsorships to students that participate in ITDI sponsored programs.
