Applying For Graduate Study

To apply to a graduate program in Mechanical Engineering, you must apply through Ohio University.

Applications are reviewed continuously by our Department. However, it is recommended that students apply by March 1 for consideration in all categories of financial aid.

GRE scores are required except in special circumstances. Applications from students with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from an (ABET) accredited Mechanical Engineering program can be processed without GRE scores.  The minimum GRE score required for admission is 1150 (Verbal 450; Quantitative 700).

The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required for non-native speakers of English. The minimum TOEFL score for an unconditional admission is 80 (iBT) (550 paper-based). The minimum IELTS score for unconditional admission is 6.5 across all bands.  Applicants can request deferral of TOEFL while taking coursework to improve English language skills; however,  all requirements for admission to the program must be met before an unconditional admission is approved by the M.E. Graduate Committee. For more information, visit the Graduate College web site for international students.
