In the spring of 1995, the Ohio Men's Crew became a reality. James Wamsley and Ben Stormer put their idea of starting a competitive rowing program here at Ohio University into motion.
James and Ben quickly recruited a highly motivated group of people to get the information, contacts, and resources necessary to start our team. With the foresight and wisdom of our founding fathers, we now enjoy what were at one time unimaginable luxuries of new equipment, traveling across the country to compete, and quickly becoming a dominant rowing program in the Midwest.
While our university considers us a Club Sport, we compete at the collegiate level continually striving to better our team, our community, and ourselves. We hail from Athens, Ohio where we row on beautiful Dow Lake, in the heart of Strouds Run State Park.

Because of the youth of our program it has been a wonderful experience to be part of a growing teams "firsts" - hosting our first regatta, the 1999 MACRA race (which has been elected to be held here again this spring see link), our first trip to the Head of the Charles, working on constructing our first permanently established boathouse, and watching our first group of Alumni graduate just a short time ago.
Ohio Men's Crew is growing at an amazing rate, and with this growth comes the need for more funds, more rowers, more coaches, and more interest from outside sources. I encourage you to experience more of Ohio Men's Crew by browsing the rest of our web site. If interested in joining, coaching or helping fund our cause please see the links from our home page or e-mail team president Mike Rigol.
