The mission of the Ronald E. McNair Post-baccalaureate Achievement Program at Ohio University is twofold: (1) to recruit talented undergraduates who have expressed an interest in research and advanced education beyond the BA or BS degree and who meet the guidelines set forth by the McNair program; and (2) to provide necessary support and assistance to the McNair Scholars which will better enable them to enter graduate programs, as well as to obtain funding support for advanced degrees. In meeting this mission, the Director, Assistant Director, and Graduate Assistants will provide academic counseling, offer research, GRE and other workshops to further McNair Scholar skills, arrange for and provide support in attending McNair or disciplinary conferences to present research, and assist in completing graduate applications. Grant resources will be used, consistent with university and federal guidelines, to provide summer research support, conference travel, and necessary office materials to facilitate the operation of the program in meeting its objectives. |
