Welcome to the OHIO
UNIVERSITY MCNAIR SCHOLARS PROGRAM ! This program is funded by
the US Department of Education Ronald E. McNair
Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program as part of the Federal
TRIO program . Two other TRIO programs are also funded at Ohio
University: Upward Bound – which assists high school students
desiring to attend a university, and Student Support Services ,
which provides academic support to students through our College
Achievement Program. Students who have been supported by Upward
Bound and SSS (CAP) are especially encouraged to investigate the
McNair Scholars Program . |
| |
The primary reason for this
program is to assist students who wish to enter graduate
programs, especially those who will seek a doctoral degree in
order to enter the academic environment as professors. The
McNair Scholars program will provide academic support through a
number of events and activities, including assistance with
Graduate Record Exam preparation, and opportunities for summer
research with supervision provided by a faculty mentor. The
summer research internships will carry with them support for
housing and living expenses during the first five week summer
session, as well as the opportunity to earn additional credits
toward graduation. McNair Scholars who have completed their
sophomore or junior years will be eligible to apply for the
research internships; seniors who will postpone graduation until
the end of the summer will also be eligible to apply. We
encourage you to submit your application to this new and
exciting program! |
