The  goal of the TRIO - McNair Scholars Program  is to enhance your academic experience by preparing you for success as a graduate student, professor, and professional researcher.

The McNair Scholars Program at Ohio University is designed to inform, encourage , motivate, and prepare you for doctoral study. The opportunities for you are enormous. You will benefit from a close relationship with a faculty mentor and will be immersed in the challenges, excitement, and rigor that signify an academic career.

Participants get to know one another and are selected for their intellectual curiosity and vigor, their interest in earning a doctoral degree, and their ability to pursue informed and substantive research. As a McNair Scholar at Ohio University, you will participate in a two-year undergraduate research program with an intensive summer component. The summer research project allows you to be involved with scholarly professionals and peers and prepares you for graduate school and an academic career.
