Often known as the "domestic Peace Corps," AmeriCorps is a national service program that provides thousands of Americans of all ages and backgrounds with living allowances and education awards in exchange for a year or two of community service. AppalCORPS is one of over 400 such programs throughout the United States in which members are working to meet the nation's critical needs in the areas of education, human services, the environment, and public security.
