Affirmative Action: introduction

"" Introduction | Definitions | In favor | Opposed | Internet | Questions

Supporters of affirmative action say that they want to repair the problems caused by centuries of racial, ethnic, and gender discrimination. Affirmative action programs try to promote economic justice by encouraging diversity in the classroom and/or workplace.

Opponents of affirmative action fear that these programs simply replace one form of discrimination with another, one that discriminates in favor of minorities and women.
