I have been teaching in OPIE since the summer of 2006. Previously, I taught:

• EFL at the ACC Cultural Institute in Aichi-Ken, Japan (2003~2006)
• Child ESL at East Elementary School in Athens, Ohio (2002~2003)
• Child EFL at Guan Ya English Academy in Shenyang, China (2002)

I graduated from Ohio University with an M.A. in Linguistics and a certificate in TEFL/TESL. I also completed my B.A. in Linguistics, though I was originally an English major (creative writing and literature). I presented my pro-seminar thesis, “The Effects of Background Music on Reading Comprehension,” in the spring of 2003.

Reading comprehension has been one of my professional interests, and I am still interested in the effectiveness of background music in the classroom.

When I’m not teaching, I enjoy playing billiards, drinking tea with friends, reading reference and non-fiction (especially science), beading, and playing with my son.
