Et cetera
In 1988, I found myself for the first time in front of
an English class for speakers of other languages. The coming years
would take me to teach in Germany, Northern Virginia, North Carolina,
China, Azerbaijan, Kentucky, and now Ohio. In all these years, I can
honestly say I’ve never had a bad day working with international
students.
In addition to teaching, I’m very interested in East
Asia and Eurasia, having spent a total of five years living and
travelling in these parts. Chinese and Turkic languages have proved to
be and endless source of fascination – if a bit exasperating at times.
In my free time, you might find me playing the piano
or banjo, hiking, boating, or skiing, while dreaming of the next
sojourn abroad.
