Born on December 18, 1945 in Liberty, New York. Grew up in Endicott, New York. Received an A.A. in 1966 from the Broome Community College, with a major in Liberal Arts. Received a B.B.A. in 1968 from the University of Miami, with a major in Finance.

Lived for two years in Barbados in the West Indies. Studied photography at the College of the San Francisco Art Institute. Spent three years in Woodstock, New York, before returning to Miami.

Worked for a commercial photographer before starting work in the Biomedical Communications Department at the University of Miami School of Medicine. Stayed there from 1981 to 2001, working as Television Producer, Computer Graphics Designer, and for the last ten years, Director of Photography.

Completed a Masters in Education with a major in Teaching English as a Foreign Language in 2000. Started teaching at Miami Dade College. Moved to Thailand in 2001, working first at Chiang Mai University. Next, taught five years at Bangkok University International College. Followed that with one year at Universidad Espíritu Santo in Guayaquil, Ecuador.

Returned to America in July 2008 and started at Ohio Program of Intensive English in September.
