Midterm 1 Announcement
Midterm 1 (50 points) scheduled on Tuesday, September 29 will consist of the following:
All the listening comprehension materials covered for the weekly quizzes and LC 1&2. Expect most questions in this section will be based on dialogues.
You will read, write and tell the meanings of words written with the target Kanji in Chapter 1.
The vocabulary
includes all the
words in Chapter 1 (but review particularly those used in class).
All the grammar points we have covered in class.
G1: Making a suggestion
G2: Deciding to do something
G3: Before and After
G4: "TO"-Conditionals
G5: Commands
G6: Prohibition
G7: Adverbs
G8: Expressing obligation or duty
Try to remember each
pattern
with example sentences.
The reading text(s)
will be
based on the class handouts used for Language Functions and Situations
("Making a Hotel Reservation" and "Buying a Train Ticket")
and/or LC 1&2.
Review the vocabulary covered in Chapter 1 (especially, loan words) and the phrases and expressions in the listening material used for the LC1 and LC2 assignments. Some question items will be read by the instructor and you will write their meanings in English.
Advice: Review old quizzes, handouts, homework assignments, etc.

accompanying sets of questions. One is about traveling and the other
about
housing.

composition,
explaining about your travel plan during the winter break. You will be
asked to
use some grammatical patterns studied in this quarter.
