One of the most serious academic offenses is plagiarism
(see definition for "plagiarize"
in the Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary). If your institution,
colleagues, or professional organization believe that you have unfairly
used the work (the intellectual property) of another person, you may
lose your job, be asked to leave your university, and/or have your
professional career ruined. Here is some information on this problem.
