Welcome from the Chair
Welcome to the website of the Department of Linguistics at Ohio University. Here you can find out about our faculty and curriculum, apply for admission, find alumni addresses, and browse through our Applied Linguistics and TESOL job search links.
Our two-year Master's Program has been educating ESL/EFL teachers and applied linguists for more than thirty years. Our curricular aim is to maintain a strong balance between the theoretical and practice-oriented needs and interests of our students. Our faculty have all come from strong and prestigious institutions, and have a good deal of experience as successful researchers and language teachers. Our students come from a variety of countries and backgrounds, and all are highly competent and share a strong desire for learning and discovery. Most of our graduates go on to teach English to speakers of other languages either in the U.S. or abroad, but several others continue their studies in order to pursue a doctoral degree in linguistics and related fields. We are very pleased with how successful our alumni have been.
Let us hear from you. We value your friendship and your suggestions. Thank you for your interest in the Department of Linguistics at Ohio University.
