Teaching English as a Foreign Language Sequence Completion of the following coursework leads to a certificate in Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) from the Department of Linguistics at Ohio University. This content is designed for individuals planning to teach English overseas. Course content provides a foundation in the study and analysis of language components, learning theories, classroom methodologies, and lesson planning. The final course in the sequence, a teaching practicum, pulls together the coursework into an application environment with trained supervisors directing teacher development. Note: Courses are offered regularly and are designed to be taken in order and one-at-a-time. A grade of B- or higher is required for each course in order to earn the TEFL certificate.Required Courses Participants must take the following: Ling 1010/5010 - Grammar in Language Learning and Teaching
