INVOLVEMENTS AT OU:
Within the LGBT community, not much: I just have a few friends who identify as LGBT.
WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO BE AN ALLY?
Not only do people need to know that there are other people who share their views on sexuality who are there for their support, but it is important that they know they have the support of individuals of all persuasions. The battle for LGBT rights isn't an "us vs. them" situation.
WHY ARE YOU “PROUD”? WHAT ARE YOU MOST “PROUD” OF?
I am proud that I am taking this step to help those I can.
THOUGHTS FOR NON-LGBT PEOPLE ABOUT LGBT PEOPLE AND CONCERNS:
It is an uncomfortable topic for a lot of non-LGBT people because it is new and different and they don't know a lot about the subject. This happens a lot, though, and is only a problem when you are unwilling to learn more and attempt to become more accepting.
