WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO BE OUT?
In today's society, being Gay is a commonly misunderstood topic.  It is still a taboo topic that people don't really know how to deal with.  I believe that it is important to educate people about what it means to be Gay and to remind them that we are here and we have rights.

WHY ARE YOU “PROUD”?  WHAT ARE YOU MOST “PROUD” OF?
I'm proud to be Bisexual because I think it's a commonly misconstrued sexuality. Most people believe you are either Gay or straight, but Bisexuality does exist. It is as much a part of who I am as any of my other characteristics, and I can't ignore that.

WHAT WAS THE MOST DIFFICULT PART OF COMING OUT?
Getting my parent's acceptance.  I am still struggling with their understanding of the situation. My mom thinks that I am choosing to be Gay and is trying to protect me from a "perverted lifestyle".  I don't know if my dad even knows, but I'm sure he would feel the same way. It's also very hard for me because I've never had a girlfriend; therefore many people assume I'm straight. I just think I haven't met the girl who has really caught my eye yet.

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO OTHERS WHO COME OUT?
Don't give up! Talk to friends or SafeZone members about your struggles.  There IS help out there, and, as hard as it might be, you can overcome any adversity you might face.  There are others who have experienced it first hand, and know how to handle it.

THOUGHTS FOR NON-LGBT PEOPLE ABOUT LGBT PEOPLE AND CONCERNS:
Don't stereotype us. I've been in this community since coming to college, and I'm still learning various things about each of the people in the Gay community.  If you have questions, feel free to ask. We are very approachable people, and we'd prefer you ask than stay ignorant.
