WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO BE OUT or TO BE AN ALLY?
It is important to be "out" in the community and as a student to increase visibility, heighten awareness of genderqueer issues and to act as support to other transfolks.

WHY ARE YOU "PROUD"? WHAT ARE YOU MOST "PROUD" OF?
I am proud of all the activists in previous generations that paved the way for me and others to now live better lives.

WHAT WAS THE MOST DIFFICULT PART OF COMING OUT?
The most difficult part of "coming out" as transsexual was helping family and friends cope with the loss of "Michele".

WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO OTHERS WHO COME OUT?
Aways remember that all around you is an enormous community of LGBT folks and allies that can be a priceless support network. We are here to help (you, friends and family) with the challenges of evolving your "self". Also, YouTube.com is a way to interact with transpeople all over the world and many are recording their transition and share their life experiences with family, friends, work, school, partners, kids, etc.

THOUGHTS FOR NON-LGBT PEOPLE ABOUT LGBT PEOPLE AND CONCERNS:
One people.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS:
Please write to your elected officials and demand that ALL Americans be protected from unjust termination, discrimination and harassment in the workplace. Let them know you believe it to be ill-mannered and unpatriotic to deny equal rights to your friends and neighbors.
