INVOLVEMENTS AT OU: International Student and Faculty Services, Student Personnel Association, LGBT Center WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO BE OUT? You need to be true to yourself. If you're portraying something you're really not, then I don’t think you can truly be happy. WHY ARE YOU “PROUD”? WHAT ARE YOU MOST “PROUD” OF? I'm proud to be out, I'm proud to say that I can go up to anyone and relate to them just as well as any other guy, and most importantly, I'm proud to be ME. WHAT WAS THE MOST DIFFICULT PART OF COMING OUT? Accepting it myself. Once I was able to understand who I was and how I felt, then I had no problem coming out to others. It's important that you believe in yourself first. WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO OTHERS WHO COME OUT? Just be yourself. If people do not like you for who you are, then they're not going to be good friends. Be with people who enjoy your company and allow you to be open and honest. THOUGHTS FOR NON-LGBT PEOPLE ABOUT LGBT PEOPLE AND CONCERNS: SUPPORT. There can never be enough.
