INVOLVEMENTS AT OU: Singing Men of Ohio, Ally, and Open Doors WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO BE OUT? To be yourself no matter what others might say, to be true to yourself, and to not hide from others. WHY ARE YOU “PROUD”? WHAT ARE YOU MOST “PROUD” OF? I love being myself and not holding anything back from others. I am proud that I have friends and family who love me for who I am and are still there for me no matter what. WHAT WAS THE MOST DIFFICULT PART OF COMING OUT? It was very hard to come out to my mother but she is totally fine with everything and still loves me with all of her heart. WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE TO OTHERS WHO COME OUT? It will be hard at first, but you are not alone, and if someone wants to dislike you for who you are then you do not need that person in your life. You will feel so much better when you actually do come out. THOUGHTS FOR NON-LGBT PEOPLE ABOUT LGBT PEOPLE AND CONCERNS: I'd like to thank non-LGBT people for their support on LGBT issues. With your help we can overcome discrimination because there is much strength in numbers and the more we have the more we can achieve. ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: One day we will be as ONE, meaning that there will be no minorities, no majorities and no difference between us all, and when that day comes it will be a wonderful day indeed.
